A true confession from the Belmont pharmacy

You can’t believe everything you read on Twitter.

A Belmont Confessions user tweeted on Jan. 6 that the Belmont pharmacy was closing which would deny student access to prescribed medicine on campus.

Not only would this limit access to medicine but also prohibit students from buying over-the-counter medicine such as aspirin or laxatives at the pharmacy.

Another anonymous tweet claimed the pharmacy had sent a physical letter in the mail to all students informing them of the closure.

Both tweets are wrong.

Pharmacy manager Jami Nix said the rumor started over winter break when she had pre-recorded a message saying the pharmacy was closed and would reopen when school started back.

Nix said a student may have misinterpreted the message or tried to fill a prescription at the pharmacy while it was closed for the break.

“Maybe, they had tried to fill a prescription or something through the text, weren't able to get through maybe they thought that,” said Nix.

The pharmacy is open and operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as normal.
