Meet the editorial staff

This year we have an all new editorial staff, here’s just a bit to get to know them;

Gracie Helms-Editor.

I’m a junior journalism major and editor of the Belmont Vision. I’ve wanted to be a writer ever since I can remember. I love the stories people share with me and their experiences inspire me to become a better writer. I’m excited and optimistic for my first year as editor and couldn’t be more excited to do what I love. Belmont University is my home and can’t think of a better place to be than right here in Tennessee.

Emily Proud-Sports Editor.

I am a junior journalism major and a women’s soccer player. I became interested in broadcast journalism at an early age and I combined that with my love of sports, so it was only fitting that I pursue a career in sports broadcasting. In the broadcasting world, becoming an anchor is seen as the end goal and is what most work towards; however, I would rather report. I want to be on the sidelines to meet players and coaches, and really be a part of the action instead of stuck in a studio back at the station. I am so excited to be a part of the Vision staff this year as the sports editor and I hope to bring students closer to the 17 Division I sports teams we have here at Belmont. Go Bruins.

Rebecca Arnold-Copy Editor.

I’m the current copy editor of the Belmont Vision. As a sophomore, I think being in an editor position is a great opportunity for me. Writing for a college audience and in a college atmosphere is so much different than high school, and I’m glad I get to be a bigger part of the experience.

Courtney Martinez- Senior Sports Writer.

When I began writing for the Belmont Vision my freshman year, I had no clue how it would become an important part of my life. I originally started writing because of my strong passion for sports and a friend convinced me to join. But over the past three years, I have learned so much about responsibility, trust and integrity thanks to the Vision. Not only that, but I have also shared the funniest moments and memories with my fellow staff members to last a lifetime. I’m excited to continue this journey as senior sports writer and I cannot wait to see what we have in store for our readers this year.

Will Hadden- Senior News Writer.

I like writing for the Vision because I know I’m doing a service to others. I’ve always enjoyed telling stories. It’s my way of doing something I love and helping people. I’m excited to be a part of the Vision again this year and bring the students the news that’s important at Belmont. So here’s to another year of great coverage.

Grayson Hester-Senior News Writer.

Hey, all. I’m one of the senior news writers for the Vision. I am a sophomore journalism major (Or, as I like to call it, commercial pen major.) I’m a local Tennessee boy, born and raised in a small town near the Smoky Mountains, trying to make it through life in the “big city.” I started writing freelance for the Vision last semester and fell in love with the staff, the atmosphere and the ability to make connections and a difference on this campus. Belmont has such a unique character not found in most colleges, and it’s my privilege to be able to capture it not in musical notes as is the norm, but in words. Go Bruins.
