Meet the new Bruin: Alexa Yatauro

Although she is currently injured, freshman Alexa Yatauro can’t wait to get out on the track with the teammates she calls family.

“I’ve been injured since the end of cross country so that’s been kind of tough, but the team is so good about keeping me involved,” said Yatauro.

The Huntington Beach, Calif. native said Nashville is quite different from her small waterfront community, but she loves the big-city feel.

“I loved how Belmont looked and just what I was hearing about it in general, but just when I got the opportunity to run here, it was moved to the top of my list immediately,” she said.

Although Yatauro planned on going pre-med, once she learned of Belmont’s exemplary nursing program, she changed her mind and went the nursing route.

“I decided I wanted to go into the nursing program not because I wanted to be working with medicine, but I really like the idea of being on a more personal connection with patients.”

As soon as she feels better, the long-distance runner will participate in cross country in the fall and run the 1500-meter on the track in the spring.
