Point guard Darby Maggard from Fort Wayne, Indiana started playing basketball at a young age.
“My first organized basketball game was when I was about 5 or 6,” said Maggard.
Belmont became an option when head coach Cameron Newbauer recruited her.
“I came down for a couple of visits, and I just fell in love with the campus and everything,” said Maggard.
Maggard believes basketball is more than just a game.
“Basketball provides the opportunity to not only to play a game but to learn valuable life lessons along the way,” said Maggard.
This sport instills positive work ethic and values that anyone can use forever, said Maggard.
Aside from practices and homework, she watches the show “Friends” on Netflix. Between basketball and her major in psychology and a minor in education, she finds it hard to find time to really relax.
“What spare time?” said Maggard.
Watch for Maggard on the court wearing the No. 33 jersey.
