Freshman cross-country runner Declan McManus came to Belmont all the way from Worcestershire, England and knew it was the right place for him.
“The athletics and academics together made it the best fit for me,” said McManus.
Coming from a different country, the academic curriculum is quite different. It is a bit of a challenge for him, he said.
“It’s a lot of higher knowledge than what I’m used to,” said McManus.
In his free time, aside from practice, McManus can be found playing video games with his teammates. The team atmosphere is something Declan reallys enjoys.
When he is not busy scoring on a video game, he is battling in practice in hopes of accomplishing another title in his sport.
“I came third overall in the National Cross Country Championships back in 2014,” he said.
McManus has already gained attention for his hard work as a Bruin and was named Belmont’s October Student-Athlete of the Month as announced Thursday.
