The No. 2 seed Belmont men’s basketball team earned its spot in the OVC Championship game for the first time in three years, after crushing the No. 3 seed Austin Peay 94-79 Friday night.
The Bruins got off to a quick start, going on a 13-0 run in the first five minutes of the game.
But the highlight performance of the night undeniably belonged to senior Amanze Egekeze, who tallied a career-high nine three-pointers and tying a career-high 32 points. All of Egekeze’s threes were made in the second half.
Senior Austin Luke also grabbed an impressive 18 points, while junior Dylan Windler recorded another double-double — this time 14 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Tyler Hadden also grabbed 14 points for the Bruins.
Junior Kevin McClain took the bench for much of the second half, after falling hard late in the first.
