Men’s basketball decimates Eastern Illinois, 81-59

Men's basketball vs Eastern Illinois

Junior Dylan Windler carried the Belmont men’s basketball team to a huge 81-59 victory against the Eastern Illinois Panthers, scoring an astounding 28 points — 19 in the first half — at the Curb Event Center Thursday night.

The Bruins controlled the game right from the beginning, eventually going on to lead by 23 at half time.

Senior Amanze Egekeze scored in the double digits as well, with 13 points. Egekeze was forced to the bench just seven minutes into the second half, after falling hard on his knee. He returned to the court two minutes later.

Senior Tyler Hadden stepped up against the Panthers, scoring a career-high 17 points and playing for 21 minutes in the absence of junior Mack Mercer, who missed the game due to an illness.

The Bruins are looking for their sixth straight win as they take on SIUE Saturday night at 5 p.m. in the Curb Event Center.
