Urban Pop Showcase preview: Cam

The Mike Curb College of Entertainment will host the Urban Pop Showcase in the Curb Event center at 7 p.m. Saturday.

This year’s artists include Cam, Monica Moser Music, Annie Bany and Morgan Bosman. The Belmont Vision will feature an artist everyday this week before the showcase.

Introducing artist Cam:

A Memphis, Tenn. native, junior Cameron Chandler Bryant is known for his soulful rapping style. When people come to the showcase, Bryant says they can expect something great.

“They can definitely expect some music. I know that sounds like an unoriginal answer, but at the same time, I think a lot of people lose track of real music,” Bryant said. “A lot of my music is based off of a jazz, old-school, hip-hop feel. I have very musically inclined and talented people playing with me. It’s going to be hype and intense.”

Since this is his second year in the showcase, Bryant hopes to prove himself by improving his work.

“I’m not going to stray too far from the kind of music that I make, but I will make my sound more relatable for people,” Bryant said.

Bryant released his “Growing Pains” mixtape during the summer of 2013. He also revealed that another mixtape, seven to eight months in the making, will come out in November.
