Belmont Up ’til Dawn boosts fundraising at first ever No More Cancer Rally

Belmont’s chapter of St. Jude Up ‘til Dawn hosted its first ever No More Cancer Rally Thursday night.

Belmont has already raised $44,196 and counting for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and with 433 participants signed up and more expected, that number is sure to rise.

As part of Up ‘til Dawn’s team week, the rally gathered students from all over campus in Beaman A&B to compete in challenges that not only increased fundraising but also made them eligible for prizes like an Apple Watch and an Amazon Firestick.

Although Belmont’s chapter has hosted similar events in the past, this is the first time they have hosted a full No More Cancer Rally at Belmont, said Sonia Mathews, Up ‘til Dawn’s director of operations.

“This year, compared to the last two years, we’ve had to do things differently,” said Mathews, “which has been good, because just because something works doesn’t mean something else can’t work better.”

It was a packed house full of spirit and challenges like texting your exes to ask them to donate to St. Jude.

Belmont’s annual Up ‘til Dawn event will take place on Feb. 16.
