Campus Security investigates report of intrusion in Hillside

Belmont Campus Security is currently investigating a report of an intrusion into a Hillside apartment Thursday night.

“We don’t have any reports of burglaries,” said Chief of Campus Security Pat Cunningham. “We just have a student who reported that she thought there may have been someone in her apartment.”

This could have been a situation where someone walked into the wrong apartment by accident, but Campus Security doesn’t know for sure yet, Cunningham said.

“We do occasionally get those types of situations. Certainly we investigate all of them, but we don’t have any sort of indication or signs of a burglary, no signs of a break-in,” he said.

Campus Security encourages all students to lock their doors, according to the Belmont website.

If you see any suspicious activity on campus, you can report it to Campus Security at (615) 460-6617 for non-emergencies, or (615) 460-6911 for emergencies.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
