Graduation applications due Monday

As the fall semester is winding down, seniors have one more thing to finish up: graduation applications.

Next Monday is the due date for all applications.

“Applying for graduation is an easy online process that only takes a couple minutes to complete,” said associate registrar Matthew McCrickard. “Degree candidates login to their ‘MyBelmont’ account, follow the same path as registration, and select the ‘Application for Graduation’ option under the student records link.”

There will be more than 1,000 students graduating in May of 2013, said McCrickard.

Seniors are cautioned to heed the upcoming deadline, which McCrickard said is set early to provide ample time for internal paperwork.

“Application deadlines are established so the registrar’s staff may complete final degree checks and prepare for a successful commencement ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of Belmont’s newest alumni,” he said.

Graduating brings mixed emotions for some seniors like Sarah Minor.

“I wish I could easily sum up my feelings about graduation in a tidy sentence or two, but in reality my emotions are all over the place” she said.

Most graduating seniors can agree that leaving school, this time for good, is an emotional experience.

“Belmont has been my home and my family for the past four and a half years and I’m not sure where to go from here.” Minor said. “It’s been a blessing, being here at Belmont, and definitely the best time of my life thus far.”
