Homecoming week 2020 kicks off

Homecoming Week is finally here. Starting Monday February 10 until Saturday February 15, Belmont will host events throughout campus including lectures, the annual homecoming social and the men’s and women’s basketball games.

Belmont will also be including events for alumni like the faithful luncheon, reunions and a non-profit fair.

Here is an overview of the events. Asterisks are placed where Well-Core credit can be earned.

Monday

  1. Mission Monday Chapel – An alumni panel will share their stories about their education and faith. (10 a.m. in the Janet Ayers Academic Center Chapel)

  2. Alumni Non-Profit Fair* – Belmont alumni who own non-profit organizations will share their experiences with students, families, faculty and staff. (10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Janet Ayers Academic Center 2nd Floor Rotunda)

  3. SAPB Build-A-Bruin – Stuff a SAPB-sponsored teddy bear with the option to keep it for yourself or donate it to The Store. (1:30-4 p.m. in Beaman A&B)

  4. O’More College of Architecture, Art and Design: Alumni Panel and Open House – (5-7 p.m. in the Leu Center for Visual Arts Room 117)

  5. Jack C. Massey College of Business College Legacy Lecture Series* (Entrepreneurial Mindset) – A three-part lecture series honoring the accomplishments and contributions of Jack C. Massey. (5 p.m.-6:15 p.m. in the Massey Business Center Room 209B)

Tuesday

  1. Student Organization T-Shirt Day – Students are encouraged to wear merchandise from their organization all day.

  2. Homecoming T-Shirt Giveaway – Students can bring a gently-used clothing item in exchange for a 2020 Homecoming shirt. (11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Harrington Place Dining Hall and Massey Business Center)

  3. In the Studio: A Faculty Exhibition* – Faculty from the O’More college showcase their projects. (4 p.m.-6 p.m. in the Leu Art Gallery)

  4. Jack C. Massey College of Business Lecture Series* (Global/International Focus) – A three-part lecture series honoring the accomplishments and contributions of Jack C. Massey. (5 p.m.-6:15 p.m. in the Massey Business Center Room 209B)

Wednesday

  1. Skills Studio: What Employers Really Want* – Alumni and industry professionals give advice on career readiness and will help with resume building. (10 a.m.-11 a.m. in the Jack C. Massey College of Business Center Boardroom)

  2. Jack C. Massey College of Business Lecture Series* (Ethics and Simulation) – A three-part lecture series honoring the accomplishments and contributions of Jack C. Massey. (5 p.m.-6:15 p.m. in the Massey Business Center Room 209B)

Thursday

  1. Belmont Faithful Thank You Luncheon – Faithful donors will be recognized for their continued support for Belmont. (11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Harrington Place Dining Hall)

  2. Women’s Basketball vs Tennessee State – (5 p.m. in the Curb Event Center)

  3. Men’s Basketball vs Tennessee State – (7 p.m. in the Curb Event Center)

Friday

  1. College of Law Faculty Scholarship Alumni CLE Event – College of Law students and alumni are invited for this free event. (8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Baskin Center)

  2. Dr. Robert E. Simmons Distinguished Faculty Lecture Convocation – Dr. Jeremy Fyke will talk about his college journey and how students can become stewards. (10 a.m.-11 a.m. in the Inman Health Sciences Center Frist Lecture Hall)

  3. Homecoming Chapel* – Alumni Luke Putney and Cathy Jennings will speak to the Belmont community. (10 a.m.-11 a.m. in the Janet Ayers Academic Center Chapel)

  4. 3rd Annual Homecoming Corn Hole Classic – Students, faculty and staff are invited to play in this corn hole competition. (2 p.m.-3 p.m. at the Bell Tower Patio)

  5. Belmont Women’s Basketball Legacy Weekend and Reunion – All former women’s basketball players are invited to attend this event. (3:30 p.m. in the Curb Event Center)

  6. Belmont Softball vs Western Michigan – (3:30 p.m. at E. S. Rose Park)

  7. Belmont Baseball vs Kansas – (4 p.m. at E. S. Rose Park)

  8. Homecoming in the Round – The 8th Annual Homecoming concert will feature alumni songwriters, artists and special guests. (7 p.m. in the Massey Performing Arts Center)

Saturday

  1. College of Health Sciences and College of Pharmacy Continuing Education Event – OT, PT, Social Work, Nursing, Public Health and Pharmacy alumni are invited to attend. (9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the Janet Ayers Academic Center Room 4094)

  2. Tower Society Reunion – All alumni from the Classes of 1955-1970 are invited to attend. (9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in the Curb Event Center Vince Gill Room)

  3. Department of Education Alumni Reunion – (10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Janet Ayers Academic Center 5th Floor)

  4. Parent Coffee – Parents are invited for coffee and hot chocolate and to speak to our campus leaders. (11 a.m.-11:45 a.m. in the Gabhart Student Center)

  5. Homecoming Time of Prayer and Thanksgiving – All are welcome for a time of prayer and reflection hosted by the current student ministry. (11:30 a.m. in the Gabhart Student Center University Ministries)

  6. Tailgate at the Tower – All are invited to indulge in food and fun as we prepare for the doubleheader. (12 p.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Bell Tower Plaza)

  7. Residence Life Reunion – All former Residence Life RAs, RDs, desk workers and their families are invited to this event. (12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Bell Tower Plaza)

  8. Publishing Alumni Reunion – (12:30-1:30 p.m. in Johnson Center Room 119)

  9. College of Pharmacy Alumni Reunion – (12:30-1:30 p.m. in the McWhorter Hall First Floor Lobby)

  10. Homecoming Open Houses – (12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Foutch Alumni House, Historic Residence Halls including Hail, Pembroke and Heron, Belmont Mansion and The Belmont Store)

  11. Belmont Softball vs Western Michigan – (12:30 p.m. at E. S. Rose Park)

  12. Sports Administration Alumni Reunion – (1 p.m.-2 p.m. in the Hitch Building 2nd Floor Sports Admin Office)

  13. Presidential Scholarship Alumni Reunion – Belmont staff and current President Scholars are invited for dessert after Tailgate at the Tower. (1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. in the Gabhart Student Center)

  14. Belmont Baseball vs Kansas – (2 p.m. at E. S. Rose Park)

  15. Belmont Softball vs Green Bay – (3 p.m. at E. S. Rose Park)

  16. Women’s Basketball vs Jacksonville State – (3 p.m. in the Curb Event Center)

  18. Homecoming Social – All Belmont alumni are invited for fellowship and a taco bar. (8 p.m.-10 p.m. at Chago’s Cantina)
