Urban Pop Showcase preview: Annie Bany

Introducing Urban Pop Showcase artist Annie Bany:

Taking musical influences from pop artists like Katy Perry, Kesha and Bonnie McKee, Bany described her performances as “high-energy, bubblegum, electronic-pop shows.”

Since Bany was 5 years old, she had interests in performing.

“I grew up doing musical theatre, and I originally wanted to be in movies and act on Broadway. Then I learned how to play guitar and how to write a song. I just fell in love with that and went that route,” Bany said.

Bany has been writing songs and playing guitar for seven years. Just recently finding her way into pop music, Bany explained that the purpose of her music is “taking simple situations in life and making them larger than life in music.”

The band playing with Bany the night of the showcase includes band manager and drum player Shane Bauman, lead guitarist Shane Stewert, bass player Austin Mercuri, keys player Isaiah White, rhythm guitarist Michael Elliott, background singers Chris Heater and Ben Vredevelt and backup dancers Marissa Milele and Taylor Pape.

Bany plans to release of a video for her song “Paradise” soon as well as an album scheduled to come out in 2015.\
