Déjà vu! The Belmont Bruins let another national powerhouse off the hook in the waning seconds. The Bruins, led by senior Alex Renfroe’s career- and game-high 30 points, were defeated 79-77 by the nationally ranked Volunteers of Tennessee Dec. 19 in Knoxville. Bruins's fans, of course, remembered another one: Duke 71, Belmont, 70, in the first round of the NCAA tournament in March.

Officially open, Halcyon Bike shop is more than just a place that sells bikes and accessories. There's art, there's community and, yes, bikes, too – and a lot of used ones are available in keeping with tougher economic times.

It’s unavoidable. Walk into any seasonal shindig this year and chances are someone you know will be wearing a tacky, yet festive Christmas sweater...

Nine out of ten Belmont students performed volunteer work in the past year. One out of three incoming students moves from over 500 miles to attend Belmont. Seventy-five percent of Belmont University students do not consume any alcohol in a typical week. Statistics are all around campus, and each is attached to the “btw” logo. What’s the deal with them?
It’d been long since I’d seen a show like the one I saw a few weeks ago at Exit/In. An unlikely set of Belmont artists performed – The Delta Saints, Future and Robert Kelly. The only thing the three acts had in common was that they’re all Belmont students. Their sounds, styles and synergies could not have been more different.

There are many ways to show the Christmas spirit, yet alternative giving has spawned new and creative ideas about what giving really means. Sharing is an important aspect of the Christmas season, especially for those that are less fortunate. In addition to making donations on behalf of those on your holiday gift-giving list, there are ways that allow one to purchase and transfer hard goods to benefit the greater good. Here are some ideas, both Web-based and hands-on, for you to mix up gift giving this Christmas season:
